    The Bonsai Tree – A True Work Of Art

    Bonsai trees are without question a joy to behold. They are in a class of their own looking like no other plant or tree in the world, which adds to the allure. Bonsai are grown like other plants but kept small using techniques that have been around for hundreds of years. This training includes basics like regular pruning and wiring, but also more advanced techniques such as creating Jin and Shari on trees. Bonsai trees are grown small but they are not a small tree by nature. Any tree can be used to grow bonsai by placing in a container and correct root pruning.

The art of bonsai is said to have been started by the Chinese some 1,700 years ago, but the word is of Japanese origin. Bon means “tray” in Japanese and sai means “to plant.”.Thus the word bonsai means to plant in a tray. The art of bonsai involves the bringing together of tree and pot in visual harmony.

    Bonsai are not tree dwarfs. By using wire you control their growth along with pruning and shaping to achieve the correct size and shape. With the addition of a bonsai tree you create an area of peace and serenity for your garden. Bonsai trees are small and their height is typically around 2-3 feet. Grown in decorative containers, bonsai trees are kept small and in any desired shape by pruning the roots and branches.

    Very few tools are required for Bonsai gardening therefore it is not expensive to create a masterpiece anyone would love to have in their home. Growing a bonsai is a combination of art and gardening. In the artistic sense, you are not simply growing a tree but creating it, hence, it is often described as a living sculpture. Growing a bonsai is relaxing, and has a calming effect, and the result if done properly is truly a work of art.
