People that love to garden are always looking for new gardening tips. Gardens are lovely and gardening is a wonderful hobby, enjoyed by people around the world. Even as the weather changes and we enter into late fall, there are still several jobs in our gardens that need doing before the ice and snow start. If the ground has not frozen yet, it is a great time to plant shrubs, trees and even some flowers. If your garden is looking a little bare because most flowers are finished booming, then try these gardening tips. Gardens that lack color only need a few hardy pansies or mums planted in them to spruce them up. With some of the new annuals available today, many people still have plants blooming until the first severe frost. Fall is also a great time to plant your spring bulbs, trees, perennials and shrubs. Plant your shrubs and trees early in the fall. You need the tree or shrubs roots acclimatized before the severe winter weather sets in. Some species of plants th!
at are easy to establish are crabapple trees, hawthorn, deciduous shrubs, and honey locust. Trees to plant in early fall or early spring are birch, oak or willows.

Sometimes people get bored with their gardens and want a change. The fall is a great time to move plants around, dig them up and put them in another spot in your garden. When moving deciduous shrubs or trees, you should follow these gardening tips. Gardens do best if you leave most of the trees and shrubs undisturbed until fall. Transplant them when the trees are dormant, which is any time through the fall until early spring. Root balls on trees are extremely heavy so you might need someone to give you a hand moving and planting the tree. Have the new planting hole ready so you can place the tree you just dug-up, directly into its new location. You transplant shrubs exactly the same way. It is amazing what a difference moving a few trees and shrubs will make to the look of your garden.

Transplanting perennials is a little different, as their seasons and dormancy varies, so follow these gardening tips. Gardens look completely different by changing a few plants around. Many of the woody perennials or herbaceous plants that do not grow from tubers, bulbs or corns are safe to transplant once the new growth appears in early spring. There are other varieties of shrubs, which require moving before the new growth begins. If you are not sure, check with your local garden center as they have the information you need. If you want a new look in your garden, by following a few gardening tips, gardens around your property will look spectacular.

People all over the world have been gathering and cultivating herbs for thousands of years. They have used them to flavour food, for medicinal purposes, because they smell nice and for decoration. Some people have even believed certain herbs have magical qualities. Fortunately, you can grow these versatile plants indoors as well as outside. Indoor herbal gardening, however, has special requirements. For one thing, the plants must grow in containers.

Light is the most important ingredient for indoor herbal gardening. If you have a sunroom or a greenhouse window, you can grow just about any kind of herb. They need no more than six hours of direct sunlight a day. If you must use artificial light, you can buy fluorescent lighting systems specially designed for indoor herbal gardening, or you can rig up your own combination of warm white and cool white fluorescent tubes. Make the shelves that hold the lights of the plants adjustable so they can be moved as the plants grow. The plant tips should always be five or six inches below the tubes. The plants require fourteen to sixteen hours of artificial light a day.

Use porous soil for indoor herbal gardening. It allows easy air circulation, holds water well but drains easily. A good commercial potting soil is fine, but you can cut down on expenses by making your own. To make two bushels of potting soil for indoor herbal gardening, mix one bushel of milled sphagnum peat moss, one bushel of horticultural grade perlite, ten tablespoons of ground limestone, five tablespoons of single superphosphate, two tablespoons of potassium nitrate and one teaspoon of iron chelate.

Plants cultivated by indoor herbal gardening do not have the deep root systems of plants in outdoor gardens, so the soil must be kept moist, even for the hardiest varieties like rosemary and sage. Keep the soil moist, but do not over-water it. If you must use a heavy garden soil, use a mulch to keep the surface from caking.

If you use a commercial potting soil for indoor herbal gardening, read the package to see if it already has nutrients added. If it has not, or if your soil has become worn out, the leaves on your herbs will turn yellow and growth will slow. You will now have to use fertilizer. Follow label instructions, and start by using only half the recommended strength to see if that works. The oils of over-fertilized herbs lose flavour and fragrance.

Herbs are generally not very susceptible to pests, but your indoor herbs might be targeted by mealybugs or whiteflies. If you see these pests on your plants, don?t panic. Rub them away with cotton swabs or just your finger. If the infestation is large, rinse it away with slightly soapy water. Cut off infected stems. Your indoor herbal garden will quickly recover.

All workmen, in this case, gardeners, need to have the tools of their trade to work well. Like traditional gardeners who work outdoors, gardeners who work indoor also need their tools. For each job there is a special indoor gardening tool that can make the job easier or quicker. Additionally the right tools will minimize clutter as you will need less if you spend time on selecting just the right gardening tools.

There is a wide selection of indoor gardening tool on the market to choose from; so large that some are not even known by avid indoor gardeners. Tools range from common items like rakes to the little known such as finger gloves, feed spoons for fertilizer as well as accessories such as ?grow light? to ensure enough light for proper growth.

Why is there a need for specific indoor gardening tool? Simply because indoor gardening is generally container gardening and therefore the space being used is much less than that of an outdoor garden. Few, if any regular sized gardening tools can be used safely for indoor gardening. The small, confined area of the containers used as gardening space just does not allow this.

With everything being ergonomically correct, you can rest assured that even these ?baby? tools are designed to minimize wrist and hand strain. A good quality indoor gardening tool is normally a lot stronger than their small size may indicate. Getting your indoor gardening tool is as easy as turning on a computer, finding an online gardening store and ordering what you need. Once you have bought the tools you need, you must take care of them. Here are a few standard maintenance tips for any indoor gardening tool (works for outdoor tools as well):

?	Always remove the dirt from any tool after use
?	Dry all tools before storing them
?	If any chemical such as fertilizer is on the tools pay special attention when washing them off

Taking proper care of your indoor gardening tool not only keeps it looking good but will also increase its durability. Cleaning before and after use also ensures that you do not transfer any possible contaminants or pests to other plants.

Your indoor gardening tool, regardless of purpose can also be a great conversation piece. They are often so tiny and attractive that people are always fascinated by these miniatures. Jazz up your gardening tool area with the appropriate tools for the job instead of using makeshift implements. They also make great gifts for the gardener in your life.

For many people in the UK and other parts of the world, gardening is a wonderful hobby that relaxes people and removes the strain and stress of everyday modern living. It gives you a chance to enjoy nature while creating something beautiful and rewarding. For a gardener in the UK, gardening tips are always important, give you ideas and make some garden projects far easier. English roses are famous around the world, with millions sold annually and most people’s gardens have one or more of these lovely plants. Proper pruning is something that most people are not sure how to do correctly in the UK. Gardening tips make this job a little less confusing. The purpose of pruning roses is to get rid of the old, damaged or diseased stems, which encourages new growth and improves the quality of the rose’s blooms.

For modern rose bushes, follow these very easy UK gardening tips and you will have people complementing you on your wonderful flowers. You should prune your plants when the rose bushes are dormant which is usually between autumn up until the buds begin showing in the early spring. Start by cutting out all the damaged or diseased stems. On stems that are brown, cut this back to the live tissue inside the stems, which is green. Shoots rubbing together or ones that are very thin will not produce flowers, so remove these. Your next UK gardening tips are to keep the middle of your roses free from too many branches, so the air and light reaches the centre, to discourage disease. The healthy, strong stems remaining need their length reduced by at least one-third. This is where most people get confused but it is actually very easy to do. Cut your stem back to the first bud that faces outward which is about a foot above the soil.

People want to know how to stop snails and slugs from eating hostas and other garden plants. The first two UK gardening tips are to keep your garden tidy and free of plant debris, as both snails and slugs love shady, damp corners. Along with removing any snail you come across, remove the eggs, if you see any. These eggs are translucent, spherical and small. Dig the soil over so the birds find any you missed. Turn over the garden soil even in the coldest months so robins and other birds help control your problem. Regular fertilizers produce soft growth, which attracts slugs, so use a slow release fertilizer when feeding your garden.

One way to add flavor and color to home cooked meals is to grow your own herbs year round. There are a few indoor herb garden tips that anyone can use to create a bountiful window or indoor herb collection. The following indoor herb garden tips can be used with virtually any type of herb, although some herbs will require some variations in light, soil, water and temperature.

The basic indoor herb gardening tips to keep in mind when starting your container garden are:

* Use a high quality potting soil. Be sure to purchase soil that has additional organic matter and has good water retention ability. Poor quality soils will result in the herbs growing very slowly or failing to produce large, flavorful leaves.

* Provide the correct amount of direct sunlight. Most herbs require direct sunlight in order to grow. Basil, oregano, chives, thyme and rosemary all thrive with more than six hours of direct sunlight per day. If you cannot provide that amount of direct sunlight consider a grow lamp or specialized natural light bulb to provide the herb garden with additional supplemental light.

* Monitor temperature. If you live in colder climates remember that the temperature beside windows may be several degrees cooler than the temperature just a few inches from the window. Try to keep containers far enough from the window that the leaves of the herbs will not directly contact the glass. In addition watch for excessive heat in window sills during summer months.

* Keep soil at the correct moisture level. Most indoor herbs need regular watering, usually once or twice a week. Avoid over watering, as the roots will actually begin to rot with standing water in the pots. Water just to completely dampen the soil, but not leave water standing in the bottom of the pot. This is one of the most important indoor herb gardening tips for healthy plants.

Be sure to monitor the herbs and cut back any dry or dead leaves. If the herbs flower be sure to remove the dead blossoms as this will promote faster growth.

Another one of the many easy indoor gardening tips is to use the biggest leaves from the ends of the branches or shoots first. If the herb becomes too large for the pot or container simply use a sharp pair of kitchen scissors to trim the herb plant back to right shape and size. Avoid using a knife to cut the herb as often the plant becomes damaged with the pulling motion of a knife.

For more indoor herb gardening tips consider joining a gardening club or organization or do some browsing online. Growing indoor herbs doesn’t have to be difficult or challenging, just start with a few small plants and expand your garden as you learn.

Starting an indoor water gardening project is easier than it may at first appear. To top it all off an indoor water gardening project is normally much less work than an outdoor water garden. An indoor water garden is also much easier to set up. To create an indoor water gardening environment you need an area for the pond (if you will be using a very large area) or a container. The choice of a container is up to you; give your creativity free reign.

Secondly, you can choose to set up using a commercial indoor water gardening kit. These kits are becoming quite popular and have everything you will need for a fantastic indoor water gardening setup. Some of these kits are low priced and yet offer some very attractive choices in containers such as wooden kegs and ceramic bowls. If you want to select the individual pieces for your indoor water garden, this can be quite exciting. This option allows you to bring your own unique taste and personality to the project. It does not have to be expensive to set up an indoor water garden since everything is generally so much smaller.

Indoor water gardening except for the size of the water source can be almost a replica of an outdoor water garden. There are a wide variety of water fountains that are designed especially for use indoors, some just a few feet wide and tall. Some are quite intricate, imitating waterfalls, some flowing over stair-like tiers, starting in size from as small as 8 inches by 5 inches. Some manufacturers even include outdoor sounds with their creations such as bird calls, the sound of the oceans, bubbling brooks and woodlands.

Like an outdoor water garden it is also possible to include aquatic fish in an indoor water garden. The choice of aquatic plants is wide and you can play around until you find the look you want. With a water pump you can help control the breeding of mosquitoes in your creation. Mosquitoes tend to breed in water that is not moving so the circulation of the water by the pump will partially deal with this issue.

An indoor water gardening setting is not just attractive, but is also a great source of pleasure and relaxation for everyone. Water has always held great charm for mankind, so it is not surprising that many persons love being able to take this little bit of nature inside with them. Indoor water gardens are used frequently to set the mood in massage parlors or in aromatherapy.

In areas that limit the ability to have a larger yard garden, container gardens are the answer to this dilemma. If size if the problem, using a container to plant anything and everything will help satisfy the desire to have a green thumb. Following some container gardening tips make this experience more gratifying and most cases more exultant. Some experienced gardeners suggest that using containers is a way to control the growing environment for hearty plants. Complimenting species are ideal as they can do things such as add flavor to vegetables or help to combat insect problems. For example adding oregano to containers of beans enhances the flavor but also repels insects from broccoli.

The use of containers mentioned in container gardening tips suggests this is a helpful way to make the plants manageable if there is a need for the containers to be moved when the weather changes. To create eye-pleasing arrangements the containers can be moved sporadically to change the aesthetically visual effect. Setting the containers on platforms with wheels will aid in moving heavier containers.

The choice of container is very important and needs to be conducive for the plants survival. When choosing the container, keep in mind where it will be placed, what type of plants will subsist there, as well as if the container is aesthetically pleasing to the environment. The choice can be difficult but as stated in container gardening tips if wood is going to be the choice of container, make sure the wood is solid so it will not rot so quickly. Wood containers have been shown to provide a better insulation for the plants than terra cotta. In colder climates terra cotta containers help the plants to breathe which help the roots become healthier but may cause the soil to freeze which could cause the containers to break. As attributed by container gardening tips, Stone or cement containers are very heavy so they become stationary but add a natural look to the garden. Another choice is plastic that is lighter and easily to maneuver through the garden but does not allow plants !
to receive adequate oxygen for maximum progress. Remember to consider the growing environment and the container garden tips in placement of the containers and those will become the deciding factors in a glorious, gratifying garden.

Many successful flowers can be planted in containers. Both annual and perennials will thrive depending on the care give to the flowers. As all flowers, those planted in containers, need fertilizer, water and sunlight. Adding mulch to the soil is an excellent way to achieve improved gardens. Deadheading the spent flowers will optimize budding. A great way to grow herbs is in a container. Most herbs grow will together and will be of convenience while cooking. Herbs will grow well from seeds that can be started indoors then transferred to a container for continued growth.

Consulting some container gardening tips will make this type of gardening a serene and rewarding experience for all.

Indoor herb container gardening is the ideal solution for anyone who wants to get into, or continue gardening but lacks large outdoor space. Also, if you love your fresh herbs but you?re being driven indoors because of winter, never fear, you can still plant your herbs. The solution to all these issues is indoor herb container gardening.

Indoor herb container gardening, as the term suggests, is the planting of herbs inside in containers. To get started all you need are:

?	Containers
Just about any container can be used for indoor herb container gardening. The most important factor is that there should be some amount of drainage so that the herb plants do not become saturated. Periodically you can get away with containers that do not allow drainage by watering only after you have allowed the soil in the container to dry out between watering.

You can opt to plant a number of herbs in one large container, this arrangement can be quite a conversation piece because of the attractiveness of the different herbs. You can also plant each individual herb in its own container, the choice is yours although available space may also play a role.

?	Herb seedlings or seeds
If you don?t really have a green thumb or you want quick results starting with seedlings is the best option. If you want the whole experience consider starting your indoor herb container gardening experience by sowing seeds.

If you buy seedlings try to get them from a reputable source, likewise if you are growing from seeds check to make sure their expiry date has not passed.

Some recommended herbs for any indoor herb container gardening project are thyme, parsley, dill, chives, rosemary, lavender and mint.

?	Growing medium
Although it is not advised to use garden soil for your indoor herb garden, some gardeners have done so with great success. The best potting medium however is the commercial type sold in gardening stores.

?	Location
Ideally you should place your containers in the sunniest area indoors, so an area such as a window sill that gets a fair amount of sunlight is the best place. Also, because you will be growing herbs, placing the garden in or near the kitchen is always the first option.

Maintaining your own indoor herb container garden will save you money in the long run as your shopping bill will be less once your herbs are ready for use. Also, you will begin to eat a lot healthier plus you will always have fresh herbs ready to add flavor to any meal.
