Organic gardening supplies are essential to raise a natural garden. The main feature of organic gardening supplies is that they do not use any chemicals or synthetic products to treat the garden. There are many organic gardening supplies required for the upkeep of the garden.

Pests are perennial problems bothering the gardeners. Organic gardening abhors the use of chemical pesticides. Instead, natural means are used for pest control. They are: – beneficial insects, organic insecticides, natural insect repellents, trap and pheromone lures for all integrated pest management programs. The ladybug, also known as the lady beetle or the ladybird, devour a variety of pests like the aphids, leaf worms, mealy bugs and mites. The praying mantis, a relative of the grasshopper, is an indiscriminate glutton that eats up any passing insect. They are known to attack aphids, beetles, caterpillars and even frogs and lizards. Some of the other useful pests are lacewing larvae that attack aphids, mites, thripes, leafhoppers and white flies.

There are many organic materials that prove to be very good insecticide. They affect the insects on contact or ingestion. Organic insecticides protect the plants without the side effects of chemical sprays.

Insect traps are another step towards pest control. They have pheromone lures or sticky substance attached to colored lures. Birds and critters seriously damage the vegetables and flowers. Organic garden supplies shops keep many traps and scares to prevent damage from them. Weeds and diseases are the characteristics of unhealthy plants. The stores selling organic gardening supplies have many weed control options. There are organic pre-emergent herbicide and slow release fertilizer that kill the weeds. The root weevil is very good at removing the knapweed. Fungal spores cause most of the plant diseases, especially during the wet season. The cure for various fungi is organic copper and sulphur products.

Organic gardening uses fertilizer and soil booster of a natural origin. A variety of such fertilizers is available at the organic gardening supplies shops. There are Organic Insect Repellents, Organic Insecticides and other Beneficial Insects & Organisms also available at such shops.

Varieties of tools are required when working in the garden. The tools required can be classified according to their usage. The main usages are: – cultivating, lawn care and tree care. The organic gardening supply for cultivation is the spade, fork, hoe and trowel. A lawnmower is the primary requirement for lawn care. Tree care requires secatures, bow saw and pruning saw.

All this and more is available at the various specialty stores dealing exclusively in organic gardening supplies. The enthusiastic organic gardener can obtain all the necessary items at the organic gardening supplies stores.

The main weapon of organic pest control is the organic gardening beetle. Many insects and bacteria feed primarily on pests. They are a very attractive alternative to chemical pesticides sprayed over plays to eliminate pests. However, these pesticides kill the natural fauna in the soil too. Some of them are very beneficial for the growth of the plant. In addition, the extremely harmful side effects of the chemical sprays can be avoided by using the insects and the bacteria. Some of the organic gardening beetles provide a broad protection to the harmful pests whereas others affect some specific pathogen only.

The ladybug, also known as the lady beetle or the ladybird, devour a variety
Of pests like the aphids, leaf worms, mealy bugs and mites. They reproduce several times in the hot weather. They are enormous eaters and devour as many as 20-30 aphids in a day in their larval stage. On attaining adulthood, their appetite doubles. These organic gardening beetles are available in packets of 10,000. They migrate rapidly once they have eaten up the insects. Hence, it is advisable to release a few of them at a time. Release them at the base of the infected plants after every three or four weeks.

The praying mantis, a relative of the grasshopper, is an indiscriminate glutton. It uses its powerful legs to catch and eat up any passing insect. They are know to attack aphids, beetles, caterpillars and even frogs and lizards. It is a born marauder and preys immediately on aphids and flies. They are sold in their egg cases. These golf ball sized cases hatch to produce as many as 400 insects in a few days. For an average sized garden, two or three egg cases are ample.

Some of the other useful pests are lacewing larvae that attack aphids, mites, thripes, leafhoppers and white flies. The adult lacewing is about ? inches to ? inches in length and gets its name from the lace like wings. The larvae are an ugly creature that is very effective pest killers. In their lifetime of two weeks as larvae, they continuously feed on aphids and other insects. As an adult only a limited varieties feed on insects.

There is a bacterium called the Milky Disease Spores that attacks the larvae of Japanese Beetles. These bacteria turn their blood milky white halting their progress to adulthood at the larval stage only.

These organic gardening beetles and other insects and bacteria are available at the organic gardening supply stores. A good organic gardening supply of these insects can keep the garden pest free and healthy.

Although most people think or gardening, and especially organic gardening, in terms of fruits and vegetables that gardeners grow to eat or sell, they are not the only forms of organic gardening. Landscaping organic gardening is becoming just as popular as other types of organic gardening as people strive to protect their environment from harsh chemicals and prevent children and pets from accidentally ingesting any of the man-made pesticides that used to be used to protect landscaping from insects. Like plants and vegetables, the landscaping surrounding our homes is susceptible to insects and diseases, and to keep it protected, we must also nurture and protect it just as we do our fruits and vegetables.

Although some may think it is not high priority to utilize landscaping organic gardening because we don?t eat any products because of the landscaping, but that may not be necessarily true. If you are a farmer, and your chickens or hens happen to eat grass from your landscaping that have harsh chemicals in them, these chemicals can indeed be passed along to humans if the product has not left the animal?s body by the time he is prepared for slaughter. There is also the potential that your dog or cat may become ill from eating grass with chemicals in it. For the protection of both animals and humans, even your landscaping organic gardening should be organically grown.

Why is such an emphasis placed on landscaping organic gardening?
As aforementioned, concerns for the health of children and pets should dictate that we take precautions. If you live in an urban or suburban area, this is of even greater importance since other kinds of little animals may be around such as squirrels, rabbits, and even birds who decide to come to the ground to look for worms to eat. Taking care of all of the animals and humans should be our first concern, not whether it?s easier to spray pesticide that take the time to treat our landscaping in a more natural way. Have we reached a phase in life where the time it takes to tend to our landscape and gardening is more important than the safety of living things? If a person cannot take the time to treat the landscaping organically, then perhaps that person should just get some Astroturf and not have to worry about whether the grass will live or die. Perhaps that is harsh, but there must come a time when we stop thinking about the extra time and extra money involved with landscaping organic gardening, and start thinking about how much safer it will be for children, pets, and other small animals.

If you?re going to be an organic gardener, then you have to make sure that you invest in an organic gardening glossary. No matter how many books on organic gardening you buy to help you learn the proper way to do it, the products you need, and how to control pests with pesticides, if you don?t know the terminology, you are not going to understand what you need to do.

An organic gardening glossary is a necessity even if you are a seasoned gardener because new things come up all of the time, and you made read about a new method, or you may choose to try a different plant. If there is a new process with which you aren?t familiar, without a glossary you aren?t going to know what the author is saying. You may choose to buy a book, or if you frequently use the Internet, there are several sites that have an organic gardening glossary. Of course, you may want to have a printed copy as well so that if you are away from your computer, you can look up what you need. After all, if you are working in the garden, you do not want to have to log on the computer to look up a term in the glossary if you can just reach for the glossary from the bookshelf.

An organic gardening glossary is especially good to have when you are first learning the process of organic gardening. Without knowing what the terms mean in the books or instruction manuals you read, it will be very difficult for you to understand what you need to do. Certainly, you can call and ask a professional in the field, but it?s better for you to learn it yourself, so that the next time you see the term, you will know exactly what it means. That doesn?t mean that you will understand every term that is in the glossary, but if you get an idea, you at least know where to begin if you need to ask for help.

An organic gardening glossary is an investment that will help you for many years to come. After all, when you begin learning organic gardening, you are not going to take the most difficult plants, but rather the simplest and built yourself up to something more complicated. As you work up to plants that require more care in their organic gardening, you will find the organic gardening glossary invaluable. Starting a new plant in most cases means new terminology, and you need to know where to find what you need quickly and easily.

It is in the interest of the community and environment to have great popularity of organic gardening. Rose organic gardening is also a part of the whole scheme. Rose is the queen of all flowers. This majestic flower adds splendor and beauty to any garden. The rose flower not only has immense beauty, but also there lie medicinal qualities in it. Rose petals contain astringent tannin. They are very effective in controlling bleeding wounds. Rose petals and rose water can cure many stomach ailments. However, the continuous meddling in the ways of nature has greatly weakened the quality of this plant. The hybridization yields beautiful varieties of roses but it also results in weakening the plant. This makes it prone to pathogen attack.

Organic gardening prefers the use of other organisms, plant extracts and natural wastes to enrich and fortify the soil. Some organisms are used to form a symbiotic relation ship. A symbiotic relationship is a bond that is beneficial to all the participating members. An example is Mycorrhizal fungus that forms a symbiotic relationship with rose plants. This fungus attaches itself to the roots of the plant and uses the carbohydrates stored by the rose plant to thrive. However, it helps the rose plant to absorb the minerals existing in the soil much better. Hence, the mycorrhizae in the system help the rose plants to thrive. Another symbiotic relationship is formed between some bacterium and the secretions of the roots of the rose plant. These bacteria, attracted by the secretions, attach themselves to the roots. In return, they ward off many dangerous and harmful fungi.

The humus is made by the decomposition of dead plant leaves and stems by soil organisms. Humus and compost also help the rose plant to absorb minerals better. Companion plants help each other grow. Roses love the company of Garlic and onion plants, so it is a good ides to plant them alongside. Other good companions for the roses are marigold, mignonettes and thyme. Roses grow well in the soil having a pH from 5.5 to 7. They like a lot of water during the blooming season. Give a thorough soaking to the rose plant in the morning or evening. Add organic rose fertilizers and compost during the growing cycle.

Roses should be planted in spring or early summer. Do not plant them too close together. Mulching is a process in which dead leaves and bark are strewn over the topsoil. Mulching is beneficial for the rose plants. Prune the roses after early spring growth starts. Deadhead the spent flowers for a more bountiful bloom. For enthusiasts of gardening, Rose organic gardening yield very satisfactory and bountiful results.

It?s not a very tough decision in today?s world, and if anyone should ask you the proper way to raise fruits and vegetables, definite advice gardening organic. We know many things we did not know when we first began using man-made pesticides after World War II, and now we are in an era of attempting to return to organic gardening as farmers used to do in the past. Man has come to see what harsh chemicals can do to the food we eat, the water we drink, and even the environment in which we live. Pesticides and other chemicals are damaging our environments and causing many different illnesses including allergies, respiratory problems, and cancer which can be helped with advice; gardening organic.

Even if you aren?t certain about the benefits of organic gardening, if you see someone and advice gardening organic, you know that there is likely to be improvement in the way everyone sees things. Aside from our health, using man-made pesticides is likely to hurt our pets if they should happen upon the garden or be in the way when we are using the products to control insects and other diseases. It may not be intentional, but they are there. Small children have a tendency to end up on your heels as you are doing things, and if that happens to be using insecticide in the garden, it can be quite unhealthy, especially if a child has a suppressed immune system and suffers from respiratory problems such as asthma.

There are those who will say that we have been doing it this way for years without ill effects, but the truth is, we have only recently become aware of the ill effects, thus the reason we now advice gardening organic in order to undo some of the damage that has already been done. Some of these man-made chemicals come in aerosol sprays, and thus have an effect on our ozone layer, which is becoming less and less protective each day. The more the ozone layer breaks away, the less protection we receive from the sun, thus increasing the chances of skin cancer if one does not protect their skin.

What does all of this have to do with organic gardening? It?s just one more way that our lives are being compromised, so if you take steps to advice gardening organic, some of the harsh chemicals will no longer enter our bodies through the food we eat. Our food will then be healthy again, and our bodies will be provided with essential vitamins and other nutrients instead of pesticide residue. All of us must accept responsibility for helping put an end to chemically treated plants by refusing to buy anything that is not organically grown and refusing to treat our own crops with harsh chemicals and pesticides.

For organic gardeners, there are a great many sources for organic gardening information, some of which is general or specific to a certain process or a certain type of fruit or vegetable. One of the most popular and easiest accessible is the internet. While you are compiling information that you need for the next crop, you can look up the information on your computer, and if you need it in hard copy format, print it on your computer. This saves you the time of running to the bookstore or library to find the organic gardening information you need. The internet is also the quickest way if you are in the middle of doing something and find that it is not covered in any of the books you have, otherwise, you would need to make a trip or make a phone call to the gardening store.

Another source of organic gardening information is the store where you usually buy your gardening products. Most gardening stores have a small selection of books on various topics, and though this selection may not be as extensive as the bookstore or library, if you need something in a hurry, and the answer is in one of the books at the gardening store, it saves you the time of driving to the bookstore or library. You will most likely spend more time finding the information than at the gardening store.

The bookstore and library are both excellent places to find organic gardening information; however, unless it?s something you do not anticipate needing very often, the bookstore is a better choice. Before you decide whether to use the library, think about whether it is something to which you may need to refer later, and if so, use the bookstore. It?s more practical to buy a book than to have to return to the library each time you need the information. Of course, if it?s one particular part that you need, and it?s only a few pages, you may choose to copy those pages from the book rather than buy the entire book.

Wherever you decide to obtain organic gardening information, be sure that you are receiving accurate information. This means probably not asking the garden store that doesn?t carry organic gardening products because more than likely they will not know or will give you inaccurate information based on their lack of knowledge or personal opinion. Save yourself some time and use the sources that are most likely to have the information you need: organic gardening store, internet, library, bookstore, or another organic gardener who has more experience that you do.
